Good post, judging by the amount of commentary it’s generated.

I guess I try not to associate race with people in general. It’s hard enough trying to decide between black, white or biracial–what happens when someone is one-quarter white, one-quarter black, one-quarter Native American, and one-quarter East Indian? Are they automatically multiracial? Is it based on what they choose as their identifying race? Is it based on what others perceive (which may not even be correct)? Is it a fluid thing, like with your kids, where whatever is convenient is used? Does it only apply in the case of first generation ethnicity? What happens to the “one ounce rule” when you have an ounce of African heritage and an ounce of Asian? Kind of a slippery slope, if you see what I mean…
